Fairy Stockings

About the Painting

In this original One of a Kind Watercolor I used two types of watercolor and for the second time ever, I used glitter! At the end of 2018, I drew this image as one of my daily drawings. It wasn't until early in 2019 that I got the inspiration to create a complete deck of Fairy Oracle cards and began to collect drawings as old as 19 years. (See my blog) This one really captured the imagination of my Facebook followers and especially the knitters!

While I was creating Enid, she got lots of fan mail.  A FB friend from South Africa, for instance, suggested that a creature inhabit her stocking and also requested rainbow hair. In fact her name Enid came from a FB fan. I went with the flow and voila, Enid, the Knitting Fairy. She will be available as a print or a card and later will appear in my Fairy oracle deck. Check Etsy for Cards and prints.

What You Will Get

Fairy Stocking is an original 8" x 10" Watercolor painting double matted and framed. Her outer mat is a linen color with a metallic gold inner mat. The frame is a medium steel gray with a wood grain texture and a crackled charcoal and gold inner edge. The frame measures 15" x 18." The painting is signed and a card on the back lists her title, the medium and my name and date.  Use the wire on the back for hanging. The framed painting will be sent through USPS and will be bubble wrapped and padded for safety. You will receive a hand written note from me as well. Shipping is included with the price. I'll send you the tracking number when it goes out.

Enid the Knitting Fairy

As I mentioned, this Fairy painting will be included in my oracle deck. I get inspirations for the meanings of my paintings as I work on them. From the beginning, I have been transfixed by her direct gaze. It wasn't until I thought she was done that I went back and added dark green to her skirt which I felt grounded her. But when I added glitter to her wings, hair and apron trim, I began to know what she represented.

To me, glittery wings represents the magical, spiritual larger part of ourselves which transcends time and space --- the part of us which came from stars.... It is so important to claim our divine selves and know our unearthly powers. Equally, it is critical that we inhabit and love our early bodies which provide us with sensual delights and every day learning opportunities.  Enid knows both parts of herself very well.
